Carlson's Fractal Gallery

"All the elements of the Earth except hydrogen and some helium have been cooked by a kind of stellar alchemy billions of years ago in stars, some of which are today inconspicuous white dwarfs on the other side of the Milky Way Galaxy. The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in our blood, the carbon in our apple pies were made in the interiors of collapsing stars. We are made of Star Stuff." Carl Sagan, Cosmos

Hi, How are ya?
I’ve started carving again. But only with Ty, and at 20 minutes a day, I think it could take us a year to finish our turtle. He really enjoys carving rock, and I like showing him how to use the tools. I am still being creative, though my break from my own sculpting continues. I’ve started silk painting, and quilting. The fall of 2006, I placed third in a local quilting competition with my Lucky quilt. This Summer, 2007, I made it into the final round of the 100,000 dollar quilt contest! I entered my quilt, Hawaiian Smile, in the innovative mixed technique catagory. Out of all the entries five were asked to send their quilts in for judging, and I was one of those five--no prizes, but what an honor and inspiration to continue quilting! You can check out my quilts by clicking on the Quilts link below.

Hello. The past three years have been very busy for me. James and I had a baby (Jackson Ty Allen-Goss), moved to Hawaii, and started building a new home, all in September 2002… Three years have past, and the house is finished, but I have not had much time to carve or do anything else it seems. We did bring 12000 pounds of beautiful stone with us, and we are both looking forward to finishing the studio and starting carving. Although I do not anticipate doing much if any carving until Ty starts school. I'm not willing to miss a moment with him, even to carve!

So you want to learn how to carve stone? may I recommend the Southwest Stone Carving Symposium.
